I made a couple of crappy MODs on the Amiga back in the day. It's worth mentioning that the format was used in a commercial game as recently as 1999. Unreal Tournament's .umx files are just the same thing under a different name and I believe they can be played by Audacious, as well as XMMS2.

Also worth mentioning is the Swedish band Machinae Supremacy, creators of the SID-metal genre. Seriously awesome stuff.

For Tracked Modules, I really prefer media-plugins/audacious-dumb. The sound quality is really better!
